Ask Your Preacher

"Ask Your Preacher..." is a weekly collection of thought provoking questions. Each week a new topic will be added to the collection of questions. The purpose of these collections of questions is to come to a better understanding of God's Word.

"Come now, and let us reason together," Says the LORD, "Though your sins are as scarlet, They will be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They will be like wool. -- Isaiah 1:18

Are you able to answer these questions? Is your preacher able to answer these questions? We invite you to read these articles for a closer self examination that you may draw nearer to God.

Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you--unless indeed you fail the test? -- II Corinthians 13:5

Weekly Topics

Creed Books - Does your church have a “creed book”?

Instrumental Music in Worship - MOST preachers today teach that the church can worship God with mechanical music (playing instruments). Is this true of your preacher?

The church, Christians & Alcohol - Is drunkenness and drinking parties tolerated among the church where you worship?

The Kingdom: Now or Later? - Most people have been taught that Jesus’ kingdom has not yet been established on earth, but soon will be at His second coming. What does the Bible say?

Must Christians Tithe? - Ask your preacher where Christians are told to tithe (give 10%) to the Lord.

Abortion - I heard a preacher say that abortion is NOT murder because "personhood does not exist prenatal.”

Baptism - I saw a bumper sticker that read, “God said it. I believe it. That settles it.”

Tree Limb Salvation - There are preachers who try to change what God has said by “what if” situations.

A Divisive Denomination - My letter to a Baptist reader.

Adam’s Sin: Non-Transferable - MANY preachers teach that the sins of Adam and Eve have been passed down to all mankind and thus makes every person – even the infant – a sinner, wholly corrupt and guilty before God. Their doctrine is called “Inherited Total Depravity.” Is it taught where you worship?

Are There Apostles Today? - Some churches today say they have apostles like in Bible times. But for the following three (3) reasons, people who believe in the Bible reject such claims and claimants as “FALSE apostles, deceitful workers” (2 Corinthians 11:13).

Any Interpretation Will Do? - I recently came across this quip of advice: “Don’t be so open-minded that your brains fall out.”

Bakker, Swaggart and Roberts - Do you remember when preachers Jim Bakker, Jimmy Swaggert and Oral Roberts began to accuse each other of NOT teaching the truth? That whole episode proved something about the idea of “modern-day revelations.”

Baptism: For the Saved or the Lost? - Which is it? Is baptism for the saved or the lost? This would be an excellent question to ASK YOUR PREACHER.
